Icke Family Buckinghamshire England.

Welcome to the Icke Family Web site. If you share the same surname I would love to hear from you if you have any information on your Icke family tree or information on the name Icke or Ickes,Ick or Ike.
If you have the name Icke or Ickes you belong to a rare family indeed. There are very few Icke family members in the world. The Icke's that can be found live in Germany, England and the USA.With just a few in Belgium, Holland and Australia. Icke is pronounced Ike as in Ike Eisenhower! And is probably Germanic in origin.

My father George Reginald Icke was the only male surviving Icke of his line. He married Jose Lomas in 1945 in Manchester. They had five children Susan, James, Paul, Simon(me!) and Danny. Who between us have 14 Icke children of which 9 are Icke males.

I have done a little research into the Icke family name. Both my own family tree and the origins of the Icke name. I would love to share this information with fellow Icke's and also receive any new information from Icke family members.
My Father's name was George Reginald Icke he was born 17 June 1914 in Salford, Nr Manchester England. Died 25 March 2000.
He was the only male born from the Icke family that had lived for nealy 200 years on Worsley Farm. All Stretton, Shropshire. England. His Grandfather was William Icke born 20 Feb 1855 and great grandfather Samuel Icke. Christened in Church Stretton 21 Dec 1827. His parents were William Icke and Elizabeth Proston who were maried in Church Stretton 31 Jul 1827. Before that I can only speculate that William Icke came from nearby vilage of Munslow and was christened on 12 June 1802( the youngest of 7 children) and his parents were Samuel Ick and Ann Ick. Samuel & Ann were married on 13 June 1779 in Diddlebury( Ann's maiden name was Smallman).

Shropshire is the county where most Icke's lived between 1500 & 1800.
However only a few Icke families can now be found in Shropshire and neighbouring county Staffordshire today. What happended to the many Icke's that used to live in these counties from medevial times?

Today there are less than 200 Ickes living in the whole of the UK. With most Ickes now being found in the County of Nottinghamshire. England. No Ickes can be found in Scotland, Ireland or Wales only England. It seems the name is Germanic and originates from Saxon times in North and Middle Germany. During the early middle ages it seemed a large contingent of Ickes moved from Germany to Shropshire England. But why did they do this? Were they offered free land in Shropshire to help defend the English borders against the the Welsh border raids?
The word Icke is used in Berlin today instead of Ich. the german word for "I".
